As the Newspaper Graphic Designer at Saratoga Publishing, I work on a wide range of projects. One of the highlights has been designing the Locally Owned Businesses Newsprint Magazine.

This 32-page publication features stories from local businesses throughout Saratoga County in Upstate New York. My role involved laying out each feature while thoughtfully blending the business’s branding with the established Saratoga TODAY visual language. The challenge was creating distinct moments for each business while maintaining a cohesive look across the entire magazine.

SARATOGA TODAY

Front and back pages of Saratoga Today newspaper, featuring headlines about elevation Everest, drought, local business, and community events, with images of a mountain climber, a flame, a woman kayaking, and an old-fashioned dairy building.

Saratoga TODAY is a beloved weekly paper in the community, spanning 32–40 pages of local news, entertainment, recipes, coverage of the Saratoga Race Course, and more. Designing and typesetting the paper each week has sharpened my layout and production skills. The fast-paced workflow has taught me to stay flexible, meet tight deadlines, and collaborate closely with journalists and advertisers.

With last-minute story changes and new ad placements, I’ve learned to adapt quickly and keep the final product polished. It’s an intense, dynamic process that I look forward to every week.
