BOOK DESIGN

Abstract wave pattern with blue, pink, and navy colors.

Woven Legends is a hypothetical publication exploring textile design across diverse cultures. This was an exciting exercise in creating layouts that match the theme of the displayed content.  I enjoyed playing with the grid structure, so the text and images are almost like yarn being woven together on the page.

Open book showing table of contents and two textile images, one with a weaving loom and the other with colorful brushstrokes.
An open magazine displaying an article about Scandinavian textile patterns, with images of mountains and a Scandinavian town on the left page and text on the right, with colorful textile pattern images at the bottom.
An open book showing a map of Scandinavia on the left page and text about Finnish textiles on the right page, with a small image of a Scandinavian woven rug.
Open magazine displaying text about Maija Isola and Kristina Isola, featuring images of colorful floral patterns and fabric designs, with a beige background.
Open book with chapter titled 'Navajo and Lakota Textiles' on adjacent pages. The left page features an introduction explaining Navajo and Lakota textile traditions, with blue and red decorative borders. The right page displays a red-tinted map of the United States highlighting the traditional regions of the Navajo and Lakota tribes, with a list of seven tribes related to the Lakota.
Open book with text and images about Navajo textiles, wools, and yarns, with a photo of yarns at the top and a Navajo rug textile at the bottom.
An open magazine displaying a Navajo weaving legend, a colorization section, and a photo of Grace Henderson Nez.
